Country Garden

The Project

A full masterplan was drawn up for a new build guided by elements of the former garden. The main brief for the garden was to maintain views of the valley, retain a large lawn area and create new borders with colourful, cottage style planting. The site is very exposed and it is hoped new hedges and trees will eventually provide protection from prevailing westerly winds. The original plants used were selected for their resilience but planting has gradually been edited as conditions on site have improved. Planting style is informal and the use of grasses, naturalistic perennials and shrub roses help integrate the garden with surrounding landscape. A more recent addition to the garden is a little orchard with wildflower areas.

“ Our amazing garden is looking fabulous! The last two weekends we have had beautiful Saturdays with visits from friends with small children, 11 months and just 2 years and the babes have just been fascinated with the colours and the bees and the butterflies and the walkways. It has been simply delightful, literally hours of just pottering and smelling and looking”
